How to get 3Shape lab scans in STL format
Activating STL output option for 3Shape lab scans
Prerequisites:
STL is an open file format, while DCM is a proprietary 3Shape file format. Conversion from DCM to STL cannot be performed using third-party software.
To export scans in STL format, the "ScanIt Restoration STL Output" module must be activated on the dongle.
Activating the STL Output Module
Please contact your reseller to activate the "ScanIt Restoration STL Output" module.
To verify whether the module is activated:
Step 1: Open "Dental System Control Panel".
Step 2: Select "Subscription Management (Dongle)".
Step 3: Select "Modules and Libraries".
Step 4: Verify that "ScanIt Restoration STL Output" appears in the list of available modules and libraries.

Exporting lab scans in STL format using ScanIt Dental
It is not possible to scan directly in STL format using ScanIt Dental. However, scanned orders can be exported as STL files.
Step 1: Scan the order in ScanIt Dental.
Step 2: In Dental Manager, right-click the scanned order.
Step 3: Select "Advanced".
Step 4: Select "Export Scan".

Step 5: In the "Save as Type" field, select "STL File (.stl)".

Step 6: Select the destination folder.
Step 7: Click "Save".
Scanning directly in STL format with ScanItRestoration
ScanIt Restoration supports scanning directly in STL format.
Step 1: Create an order and open it in ScanIt Restoration.
Step 2: Select "File".
Step 3: Select "Settings".
Step 4: In the "Save Type" field, select "STL".
Step 5: Click "OK".
Step 6: Start scanning.
